We arrived in the U.S. on Friday night and Sunday morning we were sharing our lives with friends at First Baptist Church in Princess Anne, Maryland. This faithful body has prayed for us and for our ministry in Ukraine since we first left the Shore in 2001. We were delighted to be invited to spend time with this congregation.
My heart was especially touched by a card that the children of the church made for various missionaries — and this church regularly prays for a LOT! Ours was hand-delivered.
After a great sermon challenging us to answer the questions “How big is your God?” and “How big is your problem?” we had lunch with the missions team. Thick vegetable soup hit the spot, but there is always room for cheesecake! We were able to share a bit more about the ministry in Ukraine, to thank personally the committee that agreed to send funds to offset the cost of the medical student conference in Odessa last October, and to answer any questions the committee had. We were incredibly encouraged by the interest and care shown by each member.
